Covid19/weed wacker

Weed wacker. I was in the hospital for joint replacement surgery and my wife had two friends come over to use the weed wacker because the goats and sheep wouldn't eat all of the undesired weeds. It's a 20 year old weedboss with a four stroke engine. I limped out when I got home and they were both here, I checked it out primed it yanked the start rope one time and it started right up. My wife and them all think it's possessed. It sat all winter in the garage, I took it out cleaned the filter put new oil in it pulled the start rope one time it belched smoke and started on the first try. My wife and one of the guys (Jim) are convinced it's evil. My rotator cuff in one shoulder is gone and compensating with the other has left it with severe arthritis, the covid pandemic caused the VA to cancel all non vital surgury. Now I'm waiting for the temp to get down to less than 100 before I schedule surgery again. I will not listen to my wife complain about working in the heat again. Oh and covid 19 sucks, it hit my wife hard, I came down with it right after her and I thought I had a bad cold. We tested positive and they didn't even want to test me I never had a fever, I felt like I had a long bad cold. I took care of all the animals, cooked a bunch of food my wife didn't want to eat. You can order groceries and they can just put them in the back of your truck, no contact! But not TP I had to go in to get TP??????? While I was sick.

The insanity surrounding the COVID-19 has become unbelievable, even here in the USA----the TP just being one of them. There are two sides to it, one who obey everything they're told and add in a few must-do's of their own. Then there are those who completely ignore the better advise, demand "freedom" and behave in ill-advised behavior.

I'm nearly 70, have seen a lot of stuff but nothing like the current state of affairs----sad part is there's no end in sight for more BS and of course 24/7 "news" about it all---whoopee!

I'm right up there in age with ya and agree entirely. But one of my greatest fears is that having convinced the majority of the country's population to surrender their rights and liberties in order to assure their "safety" that a lot of the current temporary restrictions will become permanent.

It's scary to me how many demand their ideals on others. I just simply do not understand. I am 32, have 3 kids married, blah blah blah. My wife is a RN and I am an electronics tech for the state. We have very little COVID cases here, 2 per 10k people at the moment. I had a bad 3 week lung heavy cold in December. I remember being unable to sleep from coughing up flem all night. I strongly suspect this was COVID before we even knew what COVID was. I am of the opinion if you are otherwise in good health, people like my self should not be quarantining unless the hospitals can not keep up with patients, which is the exact opposite here. There are not any patients, my wife has been put on full pay call in status multiple times. Now it is nice that wifey can stay at home and get full pay, but that is unsustainable. We are opening things back up and not seeing an increase in cases, as I suspect this has went through before the testing and many already have an immunity. The media is feeding the fire here. I think the fear has done more damage than the virus. Hindsight is always 20/20, we will know the whole story here before long.

As far as the media feeding the fire - they absolutely LOVE this situation. "If it bleeds, it leads". While our local television news programs have some stories besides corona, the national news programs are still running around with their hair on fire screaming "we're all gonna die!". This is perfect for them. They needed something after the Russian conspiracy fell apart.

As far as knowing the whole store before long, I don't believe we'll EVER know the whole story. Not politically expedient (for either party). Can't offend certain countries. The ignorant population might discover just what a bunch of incompetent liars we have running this country, our states and our cities.

The best we can hope for is that we all emerge healthy and that by the time our children grow up this country will have returned to a state equal to the time before all this started.

Well this is like something I've never seen before -- and I'm just a bit older than JWA. 100,000 deaths -- so it's serious. Cleaning up afterwards is going to take a while, but maybe a little patience is in order. Our gov started with some stricter rules and has been gradually relaxing them as the evidence comes in. I have to say I'm fairly impressed/ There are those who want him to go faster, but I like the way he's been handling it. No dram just a thoughtful approach. And the state has a couple of websites that give detailed info on what's going on.

I agree that we need to start opening up -- but there have been a lot of cases where folks have rushed to beaches, bars and whatever. Apparently thinking that nothing will happen. Wonder if they'd do that if there it was like a mine field -- step in the wrong place and whoops. If you think about it, that's somewhat the case -- come too close to the wrong person and whoops.

More people have died from this than from the combo of Vietnam and Korea. Only good news is that it's mostly us oldsters. -- well that's not good news for me .

Just kind of rambling,

hj

Relating to all this "news" BS that's bombarding us constantly...............

I've heard this "Ohio strong........we're all in this together......" crap (I'm in Ohio obviously ), the local "feel good" stories on "heros" like grocery store workers who are keeping us alive, the "president" spouting his constant contradicting comments that has me remembering the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center's Twin Towers. The wave of patriotism, how we suddenly started treating one another slightly less disrespectful, that we thought that one event would transport us back to the 1940's when the USA was indeed united in taking on the world against us---and damn if we didn't kick *** huh?

Do we remember how 6 weeks or so later the news coverage greatly subsided and we went back to the same miserable SOB's we'd been before? Since then apart from time passing people's behavior towards one another hasn't really improved, I dare say within the USA socially things are much the same as always.

This Corona-19 thing is the same---too much "feel good" stuff that doesn't have much substance in the bigger picture. There is a divide between those taking all this far, far too seriously---hording TP for example---and those who don't believe there's anything to be concerned about. I'm somewhat in the middle, not too prone to over-react and take to the streets protesting my freedom is being stripped away because the gov't believes temporarily restricting access to some non-essential entertainment venues or facilities is in the general population's better interest.

Our so-called leadership at the highest level is showing massive incompetence and ignorance of the best way to deal with this situation which has to leave many scratching their heads and highly concerned someone is asleep at the wheel. The unfortunate thing is the uncertainty and loss of confidence in the so-called leadership doesn't help any of us weather this pandemic craziness.

I don't know---like most of the USA at the moment. We'll see what unfolds in 6 weeks or 6 months---that too is undecided and unknown. Peace to all and best wishes---after all we're all in this together right?

I feel the pain. I've been stuck working down here in Latin America since January, first in Mexico from January through February then in Argentina, Mexico was a joke but they got serious for a while here in Argentina, ticketing people for just wandering around during the quarantine, confiscating cars for driving during the quarantine, all the stores except for grocery stores closed and very limited hours on the grocery stores. It did get thin a couple of times on TP down here but still never ran out.
