well this started about three weeks ago. I hooked up to the horse trailer pulled up and stop at the house to load up some more stuff. about 15 min later got back in the truck to leave. like not to have got the thang to run a real long crank time truck was still cold finaly got it running went on. got to where I was going with no problems spent two nights there got up sunday morning to load up to come home tried to crank the truck would not start. finally killed the batts.got a friend to jump me off. after a few minuts of charge from his truck. My truck fired right up and started up every time after that for about a week. then got up one morning to go to work and the truck would not crank so I got my wifes car to hook up some jumper cabels let it charge for about 2 minutes truck fired right up with a big white cloud of smoke. well thought batts me be going bad so I had those load tested they are both good.so I'm not shure if the FICM is going out are glow plugs are heading south. had the FICM replaced 10-21-09 so I called the dealer that replaced it asked about the warranty and he sad 1 year are 12000 miles so I'm screwed on that deal so I'm back to tring to figure out what is the cause for what is going on. Oh one more thing I pluged it up last night and the thang started right up this morning and started just fine this afternoon when I left work

 

I would check over the charging system first and make sure all connections are clean and grounded. What year is the truck?

sorry got carried away 03 spc 4x4 185,000 miles. I'm putting new batts. in tomorrow then I'll check the FICM
