I just bought a 2008 F-250 xl truck and I am planning on plowing with it, I would like to wire in a lightbar so I would like to add the factory outfitter switches. I watched a youtube video on it and it seemed easy. I went out to my truck to make sure everything was the same as in the video but it wasn't. There is a wiring harness behind my coin holder that I do not know what it is for and the insert is all one piece. I do not know what to do or if it is possible to install the switches without making it look bad. If anyone knows how to install the outfiter switches or what that wire is for your input would be greatly appreciated.
The kit is "UPfitter".
I have a 06 xl and when I installed mine one of the unused plugs in that location was for the factory electronic trailer brake controller which is directly beside the upfitter switch panel. The kit should contain a smaller "cubby" insert to go beside the switches for us who don't have the trailer brake module.
In other words, that whole piece that was originally in the dash (in your pic #1) is no longer used.
