Lucked Out Newer Tailgate with Step and Camera
Just bought a used Tailgate with the step and camera in the handle. Got it for only $350. It will have to be painted. It's the same color as my truck but there are some scratches in the paint. But overall it's in good condition. The camera is in the handle and the harness is flat with 8 or 10 pins in it. Anyone know how to hook this up to an aftermarket unit such as Edge(example) Insight? Came out of a wrecked truck. I'm installing it on my 07 F350. I already know about the left side hinge.

didn't forget about you man. just had to find where I put the DVD's
The next connector in-line is the 6 pin you pictured above. This is the wiring diagram for it. It doesn't say what wire is what, but if you cross reference the above picture I posted, you can see what each wire does.and here is the entire wiring setup for a 2008/2009 F-250.
on a side note, how are you going to display the camera feed?
If you are going to use a Ford mirror, be aware this is a major PITA to do. 99-07 trucks have a 6 wire harness going to the Rearview mirror
08+ trucks have a 16 wire harness. If you go this route, you will have to do what I did and custom make a mount. Or, pay $45-60 for a OEM Ford roof harness.

I personally built a harness. Cost me $12. I wasn't going to pay a bunch of $$$ for something I could do myself.

there are 2 styles of rearview LCD mirrors right now (same with cameras as well BTW).
1. 2008-2010 models
2. 2011+ models
same exact mirror, but the pinouts on components changed. You have to identify which on you have...or end up wasting hours crimping/soldering (ie: me)
If you decide to build your own plug2. 2011+ models

3M 16 Pin Connector
It has little tabs on either side you must shave off. otherwise, is a perfect fit. A bit of a pain to crimp/solder each of the wires on, but not too horrible.

I'd really suggest a rearview mirror. I got mine for I think $170 of eBay...brand new. It's not really that hard to setup.
Backing up with it is really intuitive. Both my truck and Expy have this system and I don't know if I could ever go back to not having it anymore. The split vision of looking out mirror and seeing directly behind bumper is great
