What would be best year to buy 6.7,??

Looking to up grade from a 2003 7.3L to a nice shiny newish 6.7L truck. From what i was reading teh 16, 17 and up are the better of the late model units. 11-15 we ok but the upgrade done in '16? make this the better years to look at.

what are the differences between the years that make them better or worse?? look

mainly looking for guidance on the models and what teh better year below a 19 might be.

17-19 is the newer style/design which i personally prefer if it fits in the budget.

What attracted me to Ford coming from an 18' Cummins was the 6r140 transmission. Its stout, thick, strong. Can't go wrong with it, so trying to figure out which years between 2015-2019 is a coin toss. Each year Ford has progressed, i wanted the last year before they threw in the 10-speed. 6-speed is meaty, tried and true.

The 15's and 16's have all the upgrades and fixes that the early models lacked. More power, bigger turbo with steel bearings, minor fixes under the hood etc.

17-19 has aluminum body, more power, larger DEF tank and larger lift pump filter, possibly a larger fuel tank on the short beds, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

20+ has steel pistons, more power 10 speed trans vs 6 speed and cost more $!

If I was to recommend a 6.7l super duty to somebody I would say if your budget can afford it grab a 2015 and up.

A good low mileage 13 and up would be a consideration for me.

2015 or newer are the best choices as mentioned above.

Also, stay away from DELETED trucks that do NOT come with the old parts and the TUNER. Specially if there is no tuner, RUN AWAY.

If I'm not mistaken the '13s and' 14s still have ceramic bearings in the turbo.. No?

I just went through this after my 09 f350 got totalled.

I've read pretty much all the same things that everyone has posted in here and came to the conclusion that for me I was going to go with a 2012 or newer, just to miss the first year and those possible issues. The power difference wasn't a concern neither were any of the other reasons guys say to try for 15 or newer. There are enough 11-14 trucks on the road with no issues, so that stuff didn't bother me.

I personally liked the looks of the 11-16 better than the 17+, so I focused my search there. I went and looked at a few with "normal" mileage on them for the year, and I kept on finding fairly brutal rust, especially considering the mileage.

Not caring for the 17+ I did happen to come across one with a leveling kit, aftermarket rims and tires, and fender flares, and I was sold. It looked amazing, and I found it to be a quite nice upgrade interior wise from the 11-16. I also keep my trucks as long as I can (usually rust is what causes me to sell and upgrade) and the aluminum body really helped my decision.

The power delivery is strong and smooth and quiet compared to a 7.3. I would expect more issues in the long run because of all the electronics and whatnot of the newer engine, but I think you'll like the 6.7. My tuned and deleted 6.4 would walk all over my stock 2018 6.7, and I'm hoping when I tune and delete this one, it will close that gap.

I also had a tuned 7.3 years ago, and it was a great truck. I wish I kept it for a run around truck, but I don't know realistically how much I would drive it compared to my newer one. The newer one really is a slick truck.

Having owned a 2011, it would be a 15+ for me. Just for the more reliable turbo, head changes, fuel pump changes and better exhaust brake.

in reading some more stuff it appears the 2017 is a good safe bet for style, engine related upgrades, and transmission.. I prefer a stock truck.. no lift, tuner etc. any upgrades in the engine dept to look at except delete that might be helpful?? now to find a good low mileage, 4x4, crew lariat model, red ish color.

SO what is the difference between the TorqShift-G six-speed,, and the 6r140 unit. one better than the other for some reason.. In the Rams with the HO engine 3500 version you get the aissian?? trans which is supposed to be the better unit from the non HO engine transmission..
