Hey all, I have a 94 F-250 7.3 IDI Factory Turbo w/ ZF5 Manual trans. Truck has 150K miles on it and it's a 4x4. Recently I started a thread about it running rough and bad vibration at all speeds and idle. I discovered air escaping around the injectors when I checked for a dead injector, which through this forum I discovered meant the copper injector washers were shot on the passenger side. I tried what I know to get the injectors out, but wasn't successful... long story short it ended up at Oregon Fuel Injection. They replaced the IP, Injectors, Lift Pump, Filter and Return Lines... The truck now runs excellent, no smoke on startup and has notable power improvement.
However, I still seem to have some vibration/shutter in 5th gear. I've noticed in gears 1-4 the gear selector does not have any vibration, but in 5th it wanders back in forth in time with the vibration. You can feel it with your hand on the stick... Any thoughts on what to look at?
Is there a diagnostic procedure on these? I'm seeing 3 and a bearing. Didn't notice anything too unusual and not much play, however it looks like the middle one is throwing grease.
often the centering assy goes bad in the Cardan joint sometimes hard to just see it .... carrier bearing can go bad too ... it could be it is out of balance too.

I just had them overhaul and calibrate my pump too, just last week, great company to deal with and fair prices. In fact they phoned me twice saying the final price could be this or that, depending on what they found during calibration, the price ended up lower which speaks for their honesty. As far as your vibration, that could be anything from a driveshaft carrier bearing, U-joint, or out of round tire.

Yeah completely agree. They aren't the most inexpensive supplier but they were knowledgable, had everything I needed available, quality parts and service. Both R&D and Constega were great to talk to but didn't have injectors or pumps available at the time I needed them. I was willing to pay a little extra to not wait.
Regarding the vibe, I've just been throwing money at this thing so I'm a little hesitant to just start replacing stuff... I can't come up with a consistent set of factors to diagnose. I mostly notice it 5th gear up hill around 60mph... I guess I'm going to let her buck till the issue becomes more obvious. I'll be doing an oil change in about 1k miles so I'll take it in and have the tires balanced and rotated then. I don't think it's a tire issue since it's not constant but who knows.
Any other ideas on how to shake this down? Thanks!
