I have a 93 F250 7.3L diesel.
When the truck is in park, idling
it has a bit of a vibration or some
might call it a quiver. Any ideas on
what it might be would be greatly
appreciated.
How many miles do you have on the engine? Have you done anything recently to the engine? Does the problem go away after a certain rpm or after working the engine?
It could be a nozzle (injector). They have springs in them to maintain pop off pressure and that is what goes bad or gets weak. You could "short out" each cylinder by loosening the top nut on each nozzle. After you loosen each one, you will have to let the fuel attain the proper flow. The one that is bad will not cause a miss as significant as the others.
Good luck and be careful around moving parts!
The truck has 153,000 mi. on it.
The last repair I made was replacing
the leak off tees, and that was over
a year ago. I haven't really played
with it that much, but I know it still
has the vibration around 1200 rpm.
I noticed the last time I replaced the
fuel filter it got a little better. The
vibration goes away when it's in gear.
