Ok so I've been quiet for a while, and I've been driving my 97 while slowly fixing it up. Back when my grandfather owned it he asked me to put in led bulbs in the tail lights, turn signals, tag lights, reverse lights, and high mount brake light. I did all of that as well as load resistors for them to work correctly, then added LED headlights to complete the package. Last night though around dusk I turned on my park lights so people could see me better and so I could see my gauges and when I hit my right turn signal I got some hyper flash. I tried it again today with the park lights off and the turn signal works fine. It only has hyper flash when the park lights are on. Could this be a load resistor going bad?
If it is the relay, it’s a tough to find, we just got a 99 with 237k and fixing it up...the relay is up and to the right of the gas pedal under a snap on black covered box that holds two relays. The one in the back, blue I believe, is the turn signal relay...not sure this helps, Godspeed.
I agree with a poor ground. makes the circuit look like an open
The difference is the amount of current flowing and dropping voltage across the poor ground.
That affects flasher operation that depend on current flow for it's speed of operation.
This is the reason for the 'loading;' resistors you needed to install.
Actually no power was saves by using LED lamps when the loading resistor are used to cause the same amount of current to flow in the stock flasher system.
All the LEDS are dong now is operating 'across' the dropping resistors. The LEDs are very low current lamps compared to the resistors.
The flasher does not really know the Lamps are there, otherwise.
Good luck..
Thanks for the quick replies, I'll look at the grounds, don't think it's the relay as it's only the right side that's doing it and it's only when the parking lights are on
