Signal Stat lights only on sometimes?!?
I have a 1955 Ford F100 that's very stock and I believe the Signal Stat lights on top of the wings (all 4 corners) were put on back in the day and even possibly when the truck was new. My question is this: When I pull the light ****, in the dash, half out the Signal Stats come on....I pull the **** fully out and the headlights come on, but the Signal Sat lights go off..!! Were the Signal Sat lights just for a parked situation?

The lights underneath the headlights come on when the headlights are on. The same lights work as turn signals flashing when they should. The same lights also flash when the emergency button is pulled. The Signal Sats don't flash, and are only on when the switch is half out. Should they be lit while the truck is running with headlights on? Love those trucks Abe...!!!

Originally the parking lights, the ones below the headlights, were not on when the headlights were on. That became law for new vehicles in something like 1968. They came on only when the headlight switch was pulled halfway out. Someone rewired the lights to function that way.
So, to get this straight, you have lights installed on the top of the front fenders and they do not flash? These were installed after it left the factory by the dealer or later by the owner and served as the turnsignals. Do you have separate similar lights mounted at teh rear of the truck separate from the tail and brake lights? What flashes at teh rear for turn signals?
A picture of front and back lights would help.

There's only one wire going into each of the Signal Stat lights. Haven't had a chance to check for more than one filament. Trying to host pics but Photobucket.com has decided not to work any more..!!! Finally managed to upload a couple.
Sounds like the Signal Stat lights were purely turn signals, and, the lights underneath the headlights were parking lights that were used until the headlights were on, and then they were off. Am I right? At the rear, I've just added the shield lights to replace the unoriginal previous ones. Again, I suspect those are running lights and the rear Signal Stats should be only turn signals.
