I've got a f250 crew cab 4x2 6.0l with about 2100 miles on it. I added an aFe Magnum Force intake kit when I was out of town at around 1700 miles and since I didn't have alot of time I just had them install it and headed for home. During the last week or so I just drove it back and forth to work because I was still short on time. It seemed take longer to start, had a more sluggish pedal when accelerating (alot of "play" in pedal") and also idled kind of "rough". I just started my off days and had a chance to look at it alittle better so I decided to try something simple by just disconnecting both battery cables for alittle while to try to reset the computer and see if that helped. After I reconnected the battery cables it fired right up "instantly", the "play" in the pedal was gone, and it seemed to accelerate alittle faster then when I first picked the truck up.
my questions are this:
1. Is it necessary to disconnect the battery cables and reset the computer after every upgrade I install on the truck?
2. Do you think that changing out the stock filter box and filter with the new aFe Magnum Force intake kit is what would have caused the truck to act like that until I reset the computer or is that a possible problem which could happen again?
