Hey guys i'm thinking about installing a aFe CAI on my 2014 and was wondering if anybody new the difference between the momentum and magnum force intakes? I cant really see much on there webpage. Also, i was told to always go with the dry filter? Anybody have any experience with these i'd appreciate any info, thanks.
Dry vs. oiled... depends on what type of dust you drive through - the oiled filters generally have better filtering performance. Issues with sucking in oil are typically due to end user error, as in, applying way too much filter oil. The dry filters are obviously easier to deal with as you just throw them away, open a new one, and clamp it on.
The Momentum HD is a fully enclosed style air box and I would not use open airbox designs in a truck application, but in the end it depends on your actual and anticipated use of the vehicle.
So I run a Momentum HD with the 10 ply filter, and I keep a spare filter on hand when I am cleaning the other one. My personal issue with the stock airbox was snow ingestion, which hasn't been an issue (or as much of an issue) since I switched.
A lot of is on here use the S&B Intake on our 6.7l and have had very good results. You might find it's cheaper than the AFE and as good or better performance.
I put on the Magnum Force maybe 1500kms ago, running the dry filter with a prefilter. I bought a spare dry filter including a spare prefilter - having both will let me be diligent on regularly swapping them and having a full clean spare available. My truck has 27K kms on it and it has yet to see a gravel road either, mainly a pavement hauler so that was a big part of being comfortable with an open air box.
I wasn't driving conservatively enough on the highway to compare mileage (), otherwise I'm not expecting a recognizable change. Around town I definitely picked up a new tone with the turbo depending on my boost and how its loading up. The coins could've probably be spent better elsewhere but what's a treat for a guy every once in a while!?
I would venture to say if you put the same truck on the 1/4 mile once with each filter type that there would be little if any diff. in the et's. or mpg's. With the gov. mandate on vehicle mileage Ford and the other mfg's are trying to get the max mpg's possible while still protecting the engine. The AM's may look and/or sound better but to me that's what your getting for your money. The filters claiming more flow are probably getting it above the 6.7's rpm range or high enough that you wouldn't get the benefit more than a second or two a month.

Pretty much this.
Not worth the money. If it wasn't worth the money back in the 6.0 days when my truck had a/m injectors, turbo and tuning and the stock intake was good enough, I highly doubt that it's changed for the 6.7.

If the a/m intake doesn't flow more air until it's way outside usable rpm range of the average user, then it's ability to lower EGTs will be in the same RPM range as it flowing more air.
