89 F150 5.0 Terminal screw up

Found a beater in a tow yard, cheap. Was told it had a fuel issue. No battery to find out. Brought battery ..hooked up the terminal cables backwards (in my defense, somebody put a red terminal connector on the ground cable. I got ahead of myself) ..factory smoke from the fusible link like a cheap snake firework. Cut the heat sealed cover on the fusible link (14ga attached to the alternator and starter, I'm guessing) doesnt look like a lot of damage for the smoke show I got). Correctly hooked up the battery..all power, no turnover ..im also not hearing the sending unit prime. (I was told theres a fuel issue) I'm replacing the link. Q: are there fuses under the hood I should check? Nothing on the panel diagram. I'll post more once the link is replaced. Thanks.

Get a testlight and check for power in the fuse box. You should have power on some of the fuses and power on the other fuses with the key on. Also make sure the headlights work. This is all to make sure you do have power going to the truck after your accident.

' get a test light' ...and check anywhere in the panel? ive got power on all when the key is on accessory. all gauges and lights work. The fusible link is the fuse for the solenoid in the fender im guessing. Otherwise i see nothing under the hood indicating fuses anywhere other than this panel pictured. Please advise.

Your fusible link feeds the fuse box. There are several fusible links out there around the solenoid. They all feed power to the ignition switch, the fuse box, the alternator, they are the main power feeds for everything else. I was just checking to make sure you do have power to most everything.

What transmission does this truck have?

If you want to try something, MAKE SURE THE TRUCK IS IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, and then take a small wire and jump terminal #3 to terminal #5 and see what happens.
