Never saw that 312 in a Ranchero. Base Ranchero had the 223 cid. Optional engine was the 292 cid instead of the 272 cid. There ware three 312 cid engines available in 1957. Engine code D had the 4 bbl carb. Engine code E had two 4 bbl carbs and engine code F was the NASCAR version with one 4 bbl carb and a McCulloch/Paxton supercharger. You would have to check the VIN for engine code E to see if that Ranchero came from the factory like that.
