After being a diehard weathertech guy for 10+ years, i tried out Husky Liners. They're WAY better. Soft and grippy, stay in place. I always had problems with my weathertechs moving around even when using the hold downs. The weathertechs ive found get slippery when wet or dirty as well, since theyre almost a hard plastic instead of rubber.
I had weathertechs in my 16 F150. Loved them, but decided to go with Husky in my 19 F350. That was due to reviews and forum reads. Glad I went with the Husky’s for sure on the Superduty. A buddy got the Ford ones and likes them but said they don’t quite compare to the Husky’s.
I put weathertech in my 05 F150. 15 years later and they look new. Awesome mats. I put Husky in my wife’s car because weathertech was late in getting out its product. Husky is not as nice, thinner, curls on edges, cheaper grade plastic, shinier looks cheaper, etc.
For my F350, the AM mat sets were $200 or more. Ordering mats with my truck was about $110. So, at about half the cost, I stuck with Ford liners. Weathertech would be better, but nowhere near 2x better.
If I were a forester or contractor who was constantly tracking in large amounts of mud and snow, I’d opt for weathertech. For normal purposes, camping, and rec uses, I’m happy with the Ford liners.

I wonder what Husky model you put in the wifes car, that is the exact opposite description of what I've seen, with both brands.
I decided againt Weathertech because of what I saw in my friends RAM. Within a couple years, the mats were curling on the edges all over the place, they are like a hard plastic and slippery. My only experience with Husky is with the X-act contours, contrary to what you described, they are not shiny at all, heavy rubber like material, no curling on any edges of the front or rear liner. Im guessing your experience is with the Husky weather beater mats, they are less expensive and look to be more of a hard plastic type liner, like Weathertech(non 3D).
Don’t get the Ford mats. The passenger side will not stay in place and it’s a PIA. I have them in my F150.
Now, I have Husky X-acts in my F-350, my other truck, and they are exceptional for fit. The passenger side comes with a pin to lock in the mat from moving the pin installs easily in the carpet and the mat snaps into it. Mat is easily removed for cleaning.
I have older Huskys in my 4Runner and they are a harder plastic and don't fit as well as the X-Act Contours I just put in the F350. So maybe its the difference between WeatherBeaters and X-act Contour, or just a change in material since I bought the older liners? In any case the new Husky X-Act Contours are quite nice.
