We basically had a do nothing weekend. Went to church. Saturday stripped the old fireplace down to just the firebox. We are going to take it out to the land use it for an outdoor fireplace
The wife said we should think about downsizing some of our vehicles and getting something newer for all these road trips I have planned. We went and priced a new Lincoln Navigator... way too expensive. Salesman here at work knows the owner of the cadillac dealership in town and we ended up trading in the Suburban and the wifes Maserati and getting a 2018 Escalade. Ordering the parts for the Dodge today and get that fixed. New ride
I am downsizing believe it or not. I swapped the white caddy to the mom in-law for her GMC Envoy. It will take the place of the Suburban and I will drive it to work till I get the Dodge the way I want it, then I will sell the GMC too. We will look into getting the mom in-law a small car next year and then I will get the caddy back. I'm just glad I talked the wife into letting trade that Maserati in. That thing was a pain and expensive, even for just oil changes.
They came and picked up my wifes car just before noon, took it back to the dealership, did a detail and had it sold by 6 pm. I hope they know what they are in for. The new to me Envoy needs a good detailing, rides good and that's all I really need in at commute car. 2 little things I need to look at . The drivers door switch does not work, the interior light does not come on when you open the door. The radio is only playing out of one speaker. I think one of the wiring harness ends came loose off the back of the radio. If it's toast I will put a new one in.
That good. Mom got out of rehab today. She still weak on the way home we did more car research. Debra liked the adjustable pedals on an Expidedition but not the size. She likes the pathfinders pilots, the Acadia, Armada
My mom is in the hospital. She has pneumonia but does not the virus. My wife stood solid that if I traded in her car it was only going to be an escalade. She is spoiled rotten but totally worth it. I am going to look into getting a carport this weekend. I want to get one big enough for the Caddy and the Hummer to be under.

A little pricier than I was thinking but probibly a lot less than the repair bill I would get from fixing hail damage. Plus it will keep them a lot cooler by not being in the sun. We have a local place I was going to stop into and take a look at this weekend. I think we paid like 850 dollars for the one we have now but that was a few years ago.
Yesterday ended up being a work day. We did a few small things ro the house in the morning . Yesterday afternoon we started cleaning fences again. Got one side fence done and all but 16 ft on the back fence done. Came in to take a break and eat dinner checked facebook saw an ad for free concrete block. So quick diner and me and a friend from church headed to Forsyth. We ended up digging out of the rubble pile and loading about 50 block. Did not get back till after 9. Today we have to take them out to the land unload them and bring back a load of 1 x6 on the trailer and a load of dirt in the truck.
We went and got the Emu chicks for the wife this morning. I washed the Envoy at work yesterday afternoon and after we got back from getting the birds I waxed the entire truck. It's been a long while since it had a good wash and wax. It made a huge difference in the shine. Ordered a rear heater door actuator for it. The thing is going bad and clicks non stop with the truck running. I unplugged it till the new one comes in. Tomorrow I will see about the radio only playing out of one speaker. For a commute truck it's not all that bad. It was the first SUV me and the wife bought after we got married.
Have yall raised emu before? Are you going to make the Envoy like new? Took the concrete block (free) out to the land. we had 51 on the truck. Took the old mower out there for areas can not get to with the bush hog. Loaded a stack of about 20 1x6x12 and a load of dirt. When I was hooking up the trailer had to raise the hitch 6 inches.
The 1x 6 are for the floor in the office. So we have most everything to finsh up all the flooring. Still need to get the foam pad for the laminate, backer board, thinset and grout. we are going to get every room to trim and paint. We have to cut our lumber for the trim.
We have not raised them before, the wife wanted them so we got her a pair for mothers day. They seem to be pretty hardy birds so my wife should be OK. The Envoy is in great shape, I have always done the maintenance and the interior is fantastic and the exterior is looking good too. Last year I put new brakes and discs all the way around and I redid the AC system. I am going to work on the radio and the interior light switch today. It feels like it could use some new shocks but it does not really need anything like the caddy did.
