Well the new truck I just picked up does not have a goose neck set up in it. I was wondering if I should go B&W or by the factory prep kit and install it myself? I will be towing my car hauler and travel trailer. What would you guys do? Also, any recommendations on bed liners rhino or raptor linings?
I think it is possible to install a factory prep hitch. I've seen a thread here where someone did just that. If you only need the goose though, I'd probably just go with B&W.
I have used it before on my jeep I did the whole body and frame in raptor lining. I just want to make sure that I do an extra thick layer on the bed and sides thicker than factory due to how much I use my bed and how much is thrown in it at anytime.

Yeah on my previous truck that was a Ram I did the factory hitch install. yeah i just do not know if I want the chain holders in the bed all the time and have to worry about catching pallets or boxes.
This is a pre-2017 SD, but I think the process is nearly identical. Not everyone completely removes the bed ... some just lift it a bit and work in the gaps. Either way, you will have to do some heavy lifting ... literally.

Yeah I have installed the B&W previously for a friend. I am just wondering what is going to be the best but with the factory set up I can put the covers in and have a semi flat surface.
I have B&W, it's well built and works great. Not fun to install, but maybe that's just me. Also cannot remove passenger rear shock without dismantling about half of the hitch.

So I would have to take the hitch apart to replace shocks or anything? That is for the B&W hitch only right?

That's a great instructional video. Interesting he installed the puck trim rings into a slot on the puck. Mine came from the factory just sitting on top.

Yes, only the B&W hitch. There is another thread about it, and I'm just now getting ready to change my rear shock and am dealing with it. This isn't my picture, but looking at mine notching the frame like this person did, won't help if your shocks body is mounted in the top, like most are.
I can verify that with the factory hitch prep installed there is no issue with changing shocks. Supposedly the Firestone airbags install without an issue as well, I will find out when they finally arrive for my 2020.
