Center cluster and individual gauges are coming out nicely. Would like to remove steering wheel & column and wiper and various *****. Not sure how they come out. See images. Would appreciate your expertise.
What is that round hole for left of your cluster? Headlight switch comes out by pushing on release pin on switch under dash, then pulling out ****/shaft, then unscrewing bezel retainer, Wiper **** come off by set screw in **** the unscrewing retainer- That can be tough unless you have a special tool. Steering wheel- that little plate that is above the connector - Pull the connector up a little and slide plate over and connector will fit thru hole. Then you can remove wheel. If you do remove wheel, you will have to remove other end of that wire from the connector which goes thru your gear box. loosen wheel nut but LEAVE ON at end of hollow shaft. Then use puller to loosen wheel, after loose then remove nut rest of way and remove wheel. Or you can just remove whole gear box off of frame and take whole/wheel/column/box at once. Whew it is hard to explain this stuff. You should get a shop manual and it will show everything with pictures.... Let us know how it goes....
Thanks, I'm on it. The engine hour meter went in that hole. Enjoy your morning. Time to walk the fur *****.
Manny, the hour meter. I've never seen one in a truck. My guess was that hole was for the tach. What was your truck's previous life? Oh, I'm not doubting you about it being an hour gauge, I'm just curious....
Good evening Abe, it's getting cold out again. I took a photo of the meter. I was told the truck began in Green Bay, Wisconsin as a utility truck with a bucket. Afterwards it was used for hauling vintage farm tractors to local events. The third guy wasn't able to complete camp/sleeper design idea he had.
GR, thanks again. The dashboard is clear of everything. I'll tackle the steering next. I've bag and tagged everything, and need to clean up the counters tops. I'm running out of room again. I'll look for a shop/user manual too. I've got one for the 8n, but not the COE. Thanks again for the guidance.
Ps. Used some of Princess's Christmas lights to make a garage sign.
That makes sense, a utility truck. It would sit at a work site with the engine running, like a firetruck with a pumper. Not many miles but a lot of engine running time.
Here is a picture of the switches, etc., and their retainers removed, for reference.
The white arrow "A" is the button to push to release the light switch stem.
