Received my "yellow taped" package today....battery tray and a filter clamp.
Those of you that run the 6637 and use the Donaldson filter clamp....care to share a picture of how the filter clamp is mounted?
I don't have a picture but on the battery try there is a hole on the right side towards the firewall (assuming the battery tray is installed)
I cut a piece of steal and bolted it to the battery tray and then bolted the steel to one of the holes on the mounting bracket. I cut the extra mounting location off the filter mount.
Here is the best picture of how I have. You can see where I cut the mounting bracket ear off
I answered Dan V over text message because it was easier for me at the time. Although, in order to close the loop on this thread a bit more than the fellas already have, I will include my notes to Dan V below.
As AKCooper9 indicated, I took a similar route as he did. I cut off one dog ear, painted the cut portion and drilled a hole in the other dog ear. The firewall/fender corner of the metal battery tray has a hole drilled as well. Both of those surfaces received paint as well.
the is a 1" long small diameter bolt with a spacer, washer and nut holding the 6637 bracket at a comfortable angle and securely in place.
I am glad I took the advice of AKCooper9 and installed the bracket. It is completely unnecessary, but holds the 6637 in place very well and finishes the overall appearance in my opinion.
At 27:20 in my install video I took a few shots of modifying the bracket.
I just laid the filter there with no clamp. In my mind I did not want to have the intake constantly flexing between the moving engine and a fixed mount at the other end. Down side was the 6637 did move and tended to wear holes in the cover. But I used cheap pantyhose for that.
I did a trial install. I can see that one leg needs to be removed...but I didn't like how the lower leg mated the battery tray...I'll fashion up a short bracket (flat bar) maybe 3/4" hole to hole...that should get it where I like.
