Just traded my 19 F450 for a 20, both being base XL trucks with STX. The 20 had a MSRP of 66,380 and I got 57,890 on it and the 19 got 43k on trade with 55k on the odometer. I had to travel out of state to Mountain Home Auto Ranch in Idaho but the prices were good enough for me.
I don't think 8%-10% off of sticker is any great deal. I bought my 2019 F350 in December of 2018 and got about 14% off MSRP and I'm in an area where truck sales are normally really hot.
I think 9-10% off is not bad considering only $1250 total in factory rebates. Obviously it depends, but I think that puts dealer discount at around $1k under invoice, before rebates.
(Last year) I got roughly 9.5% off my 19 before rebates, and that equaled $2500 bellow invoice.
I managed to get $8500 off a 7.3 F250 Lariat Tremor. Ended up being right at 13% off. I also got a fair price for the trade. After the deal was done the sales guy stated that my price was $2500 less than Ford A plan pricing. I am not sure that I believe him, but at that point he had no reason to tell me that. The price was the internet list price on the dealer's web page.
If new vehicle prices are lowering, then so are used vehicle auction values.
The key here is trade value. If dealers are discounting trade values as well, then they are no real savings. Everyone will feel the pinch. Only clean deal buyers will probably benefit here.

You hit the nail on the head. I started poking around because I keep hearing how auto sales are down and, if I can get away with trading then why not? Checked KBB for the trade value of my truck and it's almost $10k less than it was a few months ago. When things start to come back to normal, I plan to go to a dealer and see what's what, but I don't have high hopes. It's a great time to buy if you're buying outright, no trade. I have a feeling the trade in will make it a non-starter for me.
I dealer ordered back in the start of January. Truck msrp was $98,054 Cdn. Discounts originally were $9800.00 when I ordered. Truck didn’t come in until start of April so I ended up with the first 3 payments on us discount of $2250 on top.
Final sale price was $86,240 Cdn
I know I didn’t get the best deal cause there was another dealer offering better discounts but I purchased locally 5 minutes from my house instead.
I also managed to get the Ford ESP Premium Plus plan for 6 years 120,000 KM for $2850 Cdn which I did shop around for but also got from my local dealer.
Due to the fact I factory ordered, the dealer really fought me on every penny of discount because they had the upper hand on this particular transaction. I ordered a F350 Lariat Sport with every possible option you could get except power running boards. Wasn’t going to find another one of these trucks and they knew I wasn’t going to walk.
Just bought a 2020 Platinum F350 DRW 6.7, 87,213 MSRP, With dealer discount, incentives and X-Plan paid 72,500 before trade-in, tax, title doc fee. Got a good value on the 2015 F250 I traded-in as well. Build date was 11/19 so it was on the lot for a while.

Canadian pricing doesn't translate well to thw US, the MSRP is different as are the rebates. That 3 month financing discount for example, is only on 2019 Super Duty's here.

X-plan essentially is the dealer discount, not in a addition to it. Its a discount equal to imvoice, which is roughly 6% bellow MSRP and is fixed. A dealer discount can be any amount, many times it beats X-plan.

Lol, I just read your post again and thats almost 15k off MSRP. That was absolutely not X-plan and just might be the best discount Ive seen. It would be interesting to see the breakdown of discounts. There must have been a large PCO involved because factory rebates are minimal.
