The starter will be in Thursday, anyone have any tips on putting it in? I know it's a little different than a regular starter. Any help would be appreciated.
Looking at previous posts I'm going to guess this is the 1964 with 292. I'm imaging the rachet style Bendix starter. A little different than some starters.
Thanks TA. As far as installation, for SOSHA's question, would be the same as any other...3 bolts and a wire. That one also probably has a rubber seal.
You will need to angle the starter nose around the flywheel, hold it in place and get a bolt started. It's a heavy sob. All three bolts finger tight before you snug any down. put the wire on, clean and tight!
That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure. Thank you so much for confirming that. BTW, your right, that son is heavy lol. Just got the old Ford back up and going. Thank you again. If I knew how to post pictures I would post pictures.

That's that's what I thought. I've put a few on before, but not on a 292 y block. I knew something was a little different with it just wasn't totally sure.

Just be glad you dont have headers! My first slick, a 62 uni shortbed with the 292, had headers. I was young and broke so I was buying cheap parts. The starter would last just long enough for me to forget thaty the header had to come off, so i would fight around the header only to clunk it against the pipes. The remove the header LOL.

Oh wow, not real sure I want to know how big the headers we're, I'm sure the motor breathed good.lol headers on a 73mustang with a 429cj or a 351 Cleveland are a pain in the ***. I know FE blocks, but the 292 was a little bit before my time.
