things like RPM, EGR position, possibly IRP, ect. I can't figure out how to do this with forsan. Is it possible with forscan? the user info doesn't mention this or at least I haven't found it. I have installed Forscan (not lite) on my laptop and have been trying to go beyond just reading the pid's. I got the Forscan program working with a ELS27 adapter but since this is not a pass thru adapter, I bought a VCM2 clone but I could not see any options for programming even with this pass thru adapter.. The VCM2 came with some programming that I assume is a IDS cone but there is no way to tell exactly what it is and I am pretty sure I never get it working on my laptop. So, anybody got any feedback on using Forscan for this. Maybe I need a IDS clone (one that works and in engish?) One issue that I have is my laptop is win10 and I was able to conclude that the stuff I got bundled with the VCM2 includes VM ware and I am not going that way to run XP. I will have XP loaded to replace the Win10 on my laptop. I need that anyway because my Suzuki SDS wont work on my laptop either.
Thanks, have you used this adapter? I already have two adapters that work with Forscan for viewing pid's. The one you mentioned looks nice and it says it's a ELM type similar to my ELS and I have a VCM2 which is supposed to be a pass thru.
I have an IDS clone and it works great under win7 and 10. The adapter I bought off ebay under the name in the title of this post. The software is available on their website and is easy to install.
@knotreel Have you tried setting up XP as a virtual machine on your laptop? I have used that on Win7 but have not tried on Win10
basically VM sets up XP in a mountable folder and runs from there, no need to reload the system on the laptop
I did load the VM ware and decided that it was too complicated for me. Really I have no need for running anything that would run on 7/10 on that machine. Also,I saw some comments that some cloned versions of IDS have problems on 10 with VM. At that point I decided to make the machine s dedicated XP. All I am going to do with it is run forscan, my suzuki SDS,hopefully IDS clone and AE ocasionally. I would have already got the machine on XP except for the corona. Thanks for your comment.
If you use XP you want to run the XP Pro version. Also v86.xx does everything that our trucks need.
V86.xx also needs less tricks to make it work. One note. Don't run IDS until after you run the patch
or you will find that you will have to reformat the drive do to the program hiding a key on the HD.
