So I'm working on building a 96 f150 . It has a 4r70w in it and I'm putting in a m5od but I gotta get a computer I'd code so I can get a pcm for the m5od. Any idea how to get one. Any help would be great thanks
Thank you .. but wont it set a check engine light from not sensing the auto trans ?
The problem is the C6 and AOD transmission was not available for a 1996 F150. Your truck is OBD-II therefore you cannot use/source a 1995 and earlier computer (PCM). You need a 1996 PCM for a 5L engine and manual transmission F150/Bronco.

LOL... Good catch... I totally missed that. This does open up another possibility though, it may be possible to disable trans functions with a tuner. I say "may be possible" because this first generation OBD2 system is a bit of a unicorn.. it doesn't have all the functionality of a modern OBD2 system, but even with the OBD1 PCMs some functions can be turned off with a tuner/chip so there is a very good chance this would work here.
This is what Rock Auto lists as available. As you can they do not specify what transmission is in the vehicle. Does someone have a calibration code book for ‘96 to see if any of these would work?
