Why don't you start with why you think you need one .. If you do ,we need to know if its an auto ..We also need to know if it is a cali model or 49 st...
I think I need one because the transmission shop told me the code says I need one. Like a dumb ***, I decided to wash the engine at a car wash to get ready to sell the truck. As soon as I left, it started shifting very hard in the low gears. I thought it was the shifting module, but shop says computer. So I am looking for a computer.
I did not wash anywhere except under the hood. It immediately started to shift hard and gave a code. I have a Superchip, so I check and cleared the codes. It did it again. I parked the truck and started to take it to the shop the next day and it shifted fine, so I took it back home (20 miles). About 5 days later I drove it again and it was fine at first, but then started shifting hard and giving the code again.
Shop said code was for computer and shifting module. They believe it is computer since it started right after I washed it.
I also tried reseting the computer to original settings and that did not work.
Tell me that in english if you don't mind. I am old and kinda slow on the lingo.
The PCM sticks through the fire wall. Most of it is inside under the dash with just the connector under the hood. Look on the left side against the fender and you'll see the connector coming out of the fire wall.
