The shop noted that the tool box in the bed was sheet metal screwed into a roughly cut hole in the side of the bed. They built a frame on the inside of the bed side and machine screwed the box into that frame to hold it more securely.
I guess post 13 did not say the end of which month! Maybe by the end of May. Or June. I hope to make Drive Your Old Truck Day sponsored by Vintage Truck magazine. June 28th this year!
I was able to get a couple of pictures today. We are waiting for a couple of trim pieces that are back ordered, a new speaker to determine if the radio works, and new wheels. We could not find new side trim so they refurbished the existing trim. The painter will add the red to the trim once he gets it installed.
Looks good. Going to make any shows with it in Wyoming this year if they all don't cancel? The thing that puzzles me about your truck is the original owner or the dealer ordered it with 2 tone paint, side trim and Custom Cab but did not order it with chrome bumpers.

Front bumper looks to be 67-up and the rear bumpers were optional and like the front is probably aftermarket.

Rear is after market as the original pictures show it with a wrap around bumper. But the front bumper looks to me like it has a bow in it in all the pictures.
I set out to try to make it a survivor and keep it as original as possible until we got it apart and discovered how much rust was in the floor board and body mounts. Once there I figured it would look terrible to replace the body parts and just prime them. So we made the decision to do the complete body restoration and paint. The shop did do some preparation to the frame. They PORed most of the frame before they started putting body parks back on. I still have the mechanical work to do. I did the brakes, clutch, and tires before we started the body work, so I have the engine, transmission, rear axle and the suspension to do.
It looks like you are well on the way to having a family heirloom. I imagine that your wife fully supports the project since it was her fathers truck. I'll look forward to more pix and hope that you have it on the road soon.
