I went in today for my regular weekly payment. The cab and bed are back on the frame but covered in vinyl to keep it clean. They have painted the fenders, front valence panels and bumpers. The hood repairs are progressing. I am hoping I have a truck by the end of the month. Sorry, no pictures today.
Just looked at it they are doing a awesome job. Brings back memories of when I did mine. I mentioned on their page that the lower valance below the grill to be factory correct for a Custom Cab should be painted Argent. I also know you probably couldn't find a 64 to 66 tailgate the one you have is 67 and up. What size wheels are on that truck. Are they 16 inch? And if they are are you planning on using them?
The tailgate is a repo from Dennis Carpenter. The original was full of rust everywhere. The wheels are original innie 15 inch wheels. They have significant rust build up in the bead area and some elongation of the lug holes. I am planning on buying new wheels from my tire shop and putting the full wheel covers in the original picture back on. I think they were mid 1950s TBird wheel covers that my father in law added. I am not overly concerned about the green color versus argent paint.
I grow up around an old sheep farmer/hound guy he has a 66 still same color green 352 3 on the tree. I spent many of nights listening to the hounds running coyotes in the cab of that truck. The color of yours brings back the memories. looks Great.
Is that shop doing the frame and all or ate you? They look like they are doing excellent work. I wish I would have known about them when I did mine as the body shops here are only interested in doing insurance work and I had a heck of a time finding someone who wanted to do it.
They are just doing the body and paint. I will work on the mechanical portion when the body is completed. I looked for a shop for several years without success. Last summer I was at Home Depot and overheard a guy on his phone telling someone their car was finished and they could pick it up. After he finished his call I approached him and introduced myself. He said to bring my truck by and he would look at it. They started it in November.
Can you post some additional photos into this thread and show us your partially assembled truck & chassis please.
Looks to be a wonderful restoration you have there.
Best of luck in the process.
Pete
Some more pictures. Today when I stopped by they were installing the headliner. I wanted to take pictures of the current progress but they were in the way.
