Or, driving over the sand like I do a lot when surf fishing in Cape Hatteras.

Thanks.
Just keep an eye on EGTs when towing with your foot deep into the pedal. EGTs can hit 1300 briefly, for me 20 seconds is the end of my bravery. The gasses are 1300* but the metal bits take time to soak up the heat. Sustained EGTs of 1300 or more will eventually heat soak the important reciprocating metal bits and they'll melt.

If you suddenly notice the EGTs are too high and you don't know for how long, slow down and keep rolling down the road with the engine running to maximize cooling.

It’s also good practice to let EGT drop below 400* before shutting the engine down.

I’ve read in the past that some people tap both driver and passenger manifolds for a more complete picture of temps. Is that still common thought? Is there a good dual gauge available? The PO of my truck installed the temp probe just after the turbo before the the down turn in the exhaust pipe. I will be putting in the correct location on my next project.

Some people do use dual EGT gauges. You could easily run (2) probes and toggle between them if you felt this was pertinent information. (I do not)

Thanks Jason. Is driver side the usual location just because of proximity to gauge cluster?
Also, slow on “thanks” for your help with my H&H mod. Worked out perfectly.

Yes and no downpipe in the way.

Is it your tubing I just got back in the mail yesterday??? You shoulda told me it didn’t show up!!

The (regular) envelope was damaged at the mailing address and was unable to be delivered or something.... I guess I’ve just been lucky with the others I sent like that. I’ll invest in bubble wrap envelopes from now on.

Figured you got busy in the shop. Not a biggy. I appreciate all the excellent input. Hope there is enough wire to get me to the new location for reinstalling. Just fill old hole with 1/8” NPT plug right?
