We have come to a point where many will need cash to live while their jobs are shut down . A lot will start selling off their toys and projects , For someone that is looking for parts or complete trucks this will be a good time to buy . So how far would you go to get these buys , Would you go to someones home to pick up , or go to another town or state ? I have already passed on a motorcycle , that I would have grabbed 3 or 4 months ago . Does anyone know if you can get a shipper to bring you a truck ? How are you guys that are working on projects doing with parts ?Can you order anything or have places like Carpenter and Mid Fifty shut down ? Has anyone shut down their projects , because they think maybe they won't live to finish it ? I have some yard projects that are a lot more work then my back want's to do so I have put them on hold . I hope everyone is doing good and make it through this mess .
I check the ads regularly, mostly to kill time, and have seen few vehicles that are "fire sale" priced so far. I do see a lot more of the less popular classic cars on the market compared to 6 months ago, but it's also Springtime when many come on the market in normal times. It would have to be a screamin' deal, and close to me, for me to get very excited.
This is a double edged sword. While you sit and see the things you want at a great price I am also laid off and watching
how i spend money not knowing when i will go back to work. I have been trying to get alot done while home but you always need things. It seems like if all who owed me paid half i could stay out for years.

I think it will be a while before that stuff really starts getting cheap. I bought some stuff from carpenter in last week and they are open for shipping but show room closed. I am ordering in parts from amazon instead of going to my local oreillys to get stuff. I am letting the shipping boxes sit for 3 days after I get them to be sure any virus has died before handlelng them. The guy across road from me hauls cars and he is still moving semi loads as I see him coming and going. On that note I wouldn't let him haul a brick for me. On distance I went to NC last fall to get a car and that's a pretty good run from SW Missouri. I don't know if I would go today for the same deal today. Glad to see you and Ross are well and kicking
Larry
The current situation is temporary. Life will return to normal. Like Ross said, I haven't seen anything worth having at fire sale prices yet, and really, I don't expect it. I've got a couple things I've been planning to sell, but will wait it out because I don't want to be lumped into that 'must sell-fire sale' category.
As far a distance to get something, I have gone at least 2-300 miles to get something I wanted. But that's kind of the way it is out west compared to other parts of the country, especially the more crowded east. You've got to go a ways to get anywhere or anything. It's no big deal to us. I have a truck and trailer so I have no issue taking a road trip.
Nice to hear from you Larry, I don't think I need anything that can't wait until this is over . Would like to hear from of the old truckstock group , haven't seen anything from Ray or Gary in some time . Maybe we should plan something for when this ends ,
Dave
That sounds like a great idea. I don't say much on here any more but do look at post every day. I've sold both my trucks. I still have the 46 merc and the 39 ford hotrod. I have become obsessed I guess with 53 mercurys. I have one I am driving and building one now with a 5.0 grand marquis fuel injected and aod trans. I plan on it becoming my daily driver. Have several for parts cars so well stocked on 53's. I havent seen or heard anything about Gary in quite a while. Saw Ray had posted something but its been a while. I thought that group fit well and I
really enjoyed the get togethers
I have plenty of time thanks to the shut down, don't have any work or money that's to the shut down so the projects I have are still gathering dust.
Cut my reply. I won't be driving distances to pick up projects or parts, not because I'm worried about contracting some awful decease. Just don't have the money.

Dave, I am around and kicking; just miss the going out to eat almost every day. I have managed to keep the grill hot and we still have stuff to throw on it. We want for nothing in the way of life's essentials. The dear wife has me doing around home "honey do" projects. Right now the current project is a couple bookcases that I am almost ready to sign off on. I look at projects but so far I've found nothing that really turns me on. I am getting to the age where I appreciate how the newer stuff drives and rides. A thousand mile road trip in an old vehicle, not going to happen. Same road trip in a modern vehicle, why not!
This current shut down will end. Has the damage to the economy been done? I am afraid it has. Many will never recover. I am afraid we may have shut things down based on bad data, but what do I know. Tough job being at the top and making the hard decisions.
I don't doubt for a second that there will be extra stuff showing up eventually as there are allot of people living paycheck to paycheck . I'm sure they will holdout as long as possible . As far as road trips it's not happening here . The deal would have to be staggering for me to have to self issolate for 2 weeks even though that's pretty much what I'm doing now .
I know most folks are careful, but as people get more desperate scams and thefts become more prevalent as well.... That steal of a deal might cost ya more than the list price.
That being said - I'm still looking, haha
