My truck has been hazing when I’m idling for I’m not sure how long now. My issue is I can’t tell what color the haze it since the only time I see it is at night with a car behind me. The time I noticed it today was when I went to accelerate from sitting at a stop light. I don’t think it does it once it’s fully warmed but can’t tell since there’s no other vehicle around by that time. I rebuilt the engine about a year ago and put a set of full force injectors in at that time my fuel pressure seems to be high, 70, and no clue why it’s that high either. I stopped seeing the haze for a while but noticed it really bad tonight on my way home from work. Does anyone have any insite on what I should start looking at first, and why my fuel pressure is as high as it it? Ive got a stock pressure spring installed and I’m 90% sure it’s not bound up.
This was mentioned a few years back. Think it's normal. My L99 does it also. During the day, no sign of smoke of any color..but at night, with cars behind me, is when I see it especially get on the freeway
It’s probably the injectors especially if they are bigger than stock. Mine are stock and haze a little at night if I catch the exhaust in the light just right. At least one of them is in rough shape though so I assume that might be part of it. It comes and goes but not when the motor is cold I notice. I don’t think the fuel pressure is high enough to worry about if that is what you get at idle. It dips a little at WOT. Mine sits around 62-64 at idle and 55-56 is about as low as I can get it to dip on a hard pull.
The injectors are 205/80s. I figure I’ll run the truck basically the way it is this year and next I’ll be swapping in a t4 turbo setup to replace the KC38R I have currently. I still have slot of reading to do on the t4 for the bigger injectors but my current setup is the minimum to work with the injectors I have and I’m not a fan of how it’s performing. I’m guessing with the better turbo setup the haze should dissipate somewhat.
