Engine offset, '69 f100 302

Motor favors the P side in the engine bay. Appears to be that way on purpose judging from the shape of the floor pan of the cab and how centered the fan is in the shroud.

I'm having a header clearance issue and if I could scoot the engine towards the center even a little it would help.

Is there some motor mounts available or has this been tried by any of the members here?

I would ofcourse be mindful of opinion angle.

Might be able to shim the motor mounts. Replacing them might help I they are wore out. I don't know how nice of a ride you are building but denting the headers does not make much difference for hp. You might be able to heat the header and bend it over.

you know working the header would normally be my preference but I spent some coin to have these ceramic coated inside and out. If I bend it I'll do it cold. I want to do like you say and replace the motor mounts and cheat it to the D side as much as I can.

Being a 302, you could put a 1/4" shim above the mount(between the block and mount), raising the motor slightly to gain some room. You can then also shim the transmission mount the same amount to keep the driveline angle the same.

Doing only the passenger side might help tilt it more? That slight bit would likely not effect anything else. Or do 1/4" on drivers and 3/8" on passenger?

I'm thinking about shiming the P side between the motor mount and engine perch. It's at a 45* in relation to the chassis so I'm thinking a 1/2" spacer there will raise the P side 1/4" and nudge the motor to the D side 1/4".

also there seems no polyurathane motor mounts available for a bump with a 302. Looking at Bronco motor mounts, they appear to raise the engine 1/2".

From: TN.

If all else fails, I'd cut a notch in the frame member, that and maybe pull the trans tailend over towards the driver side a bit.

Have you put tranny on and mounted to rear cross member? It may raise it up away from front cross member.

if all else fails that is exactly what will happen, just checking if it can be avoided as I haven't done any cutting or welding on the truck yet-trying to keep it at least sort of virgin.

this was next then came the rain, but also need to do it to check alignment angles- tailshaft might need to go that way to line up hopefully.

The headers are for a Falcon ( Doug's D660YA ) and there's lots of room on the D side. The trans mount is off center from the factory about 1 3/8" to the P side. The pinion is offset 1 3/4". These are all rough tape measure measurements.

Before you mess up your drive line angles, I'd use some percussion engineering and get the clearance you need - unless the headers have some high dollar ceramic coating. If you can tolerate a few commercials, watch this video on the power loss due to dents in headers - https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3vupq0

You can also get everything installed properly on good mounts and do some gentle prying with a 2x4. You only need a quarter inch or so.

I agree, infact at this point for me it has become about checking and correcting if need be the driveline alignment, and figuring out how to make the rest conform to it.
I'm going to try a set of aftermarket Bronco motor mounts that may raise the motor 1/2"-3/4".
