Possible short term storage

So I've applied to go and help the hospitals in the NYC area. If I get accepted to work there temporarily, I will be flown there and my truck will be left behind for 4-8 weeks. Besides stabil, are there any other considerations for having it parked that long? I've never left a vehicle parked for more than two weeks before and I do have 6 qts of Mobile for my next oil change which is going to be around 28k miles but might change it early if I get the green light to go. Thoughts?

I'd leave it alone and wouldn't even bother with stabil. Todays gas doesn't go stale in 2 months. You might get some flat spotting on the tires but that'll go away after a few miles of driving when you get back. A battery tender might be in order. Stay safe. Have a friend who's wife (RN) headed to Chicago yesterday - 100/hr on 70/hr off for a 21 day straight shift. 12 hrs on 12 hrs off. And they paid for flight and lodging and food. She'll make more in 21 days then she makes in 2/3 of a year, and she doesn't have to worry about exposing the family. Crazy times

I would do the stabil and maybe hook up a solar battery tender to keep the battery topped off.

If I had some stabil on the shelf I would add it to my other cars too. I'm staying home and the cars are just sitting in the garage. I'll take them out for a drive once a week to keep them lubed and the battery charged, but I don't see using much gas in the next month or two.

Ok so nothing to big. That's good to know, I won't know till later if I get the temp job. Still don't like it just sitting but don't want to take it all the way from Texas to new York.

Yea the pay incentive is insane and will allow me to work part time while attending a BSN program to become an RN (CNA currently) if I put it all in savings. Part of the reason I bought my truck outright versus financing a brand new ranger.

Many new and used vehicle sit on dealer lots for months at a time, put the fuel stabilizer in, disconnect the battery unless you have someone that can occasionally start it for you and don't worry about it.

The sad part of that is gas is at such a low price, We have been topping off our tanks whenever we see the gauges move to less than 3/4 plus we have a few fuel caddys filled

I leave my 03 for 7 months at a time in my garage and all I do is disconnect the battery and put it up on jack stands just in case one of the tires goes flat, no stable or anything in the gas. When we get back I just hook up the battery and it starts right up. Also the car gets the same treatment. When we get back for the summer the DRW sits in the building for 5 months with just a battery charge or started up to keep the battery up with no ill effects.

FYI, gas is good for about 2-years without adding anything to it. Other than what's already been suggested the only other thing you could do is put it up on blocks to get the wheels off the ground and take about 10 PSI out of the tires. Doing that will help the lifespan of the tires.

I leave mine sit for months at a time,

I'm very careful in how I prepare it for sleeping

I turn the key off.

For eight weeks it wouldn't need anything more.

Thanks everyone for the pointers. I'm still waiting to hear if I'm going or not. In the meantime my youngest brother is expressing interest in learning to drive stick so I may leave a set of keys with my dad to teach him. Can't set it on blocks at my apartment nor in my parents neighborhood (HOA issues).

Putting it on blocks for that short period of time is unnecessary.
