Oil change light at 2300 miles

i have a 2017 f250 Powersteoke, and suddenly the oil change light came in at around 2300 miles. It is my first Ford and Diesel truck so I’m not to sure what to expect on oil life. What is the average oil change on these trucks.

That typically happens somewhere between 7500 and 10K miles, depending on how the truck is driven. What's the build date on the truck? Rumor is they will turn on at the 1 year anniversary regardless of miles.

Mine came on at 9016 miles, 50% of which was towing but I rarely drive over 60 mph.

ForSCAN can see how many miles left? I have yet to see any oil indicator on mine. First LOF was done at 6500 and I'm now at 14k, thinking about just changing it.

The diesel engine's Intelligent Oil Life Monitor will generally determine the required oil change interval based on operational conditions. See OM page 578.

However, the IOLM also appears to contain a one-year change limit, regardless of mileage. Perhaps your truck sat on the dealer lot for a while?

Yeah, the following notes (re diesel maintenance) are buried on page 579:
1 Do not exceed one year or 10000 miles (16000 kilometers) between service intervals.
2 Reset the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor after engine oil and filter changes.

Yes, ForScan can show remaining miles on your 6.7 oil.

I had the change engine oil warning come on this morning, at 2296 miles. Half of that has been towing. I reset the oil life monitoring to see if it comes back right away. I'll get the oil changed when I have time.

I purchased my 2017 f250 in December with a build date of 2/2017. I have about 1k miles. So I should be a change oil light to come on soon...☹️

I went on ford pass and got my oil % that way I think I'm at 65% with 2100miles on the truck build date was 10-25-17 but I do a lot of short driving distance and I idle it a lot for that reason. So when does the light come on? 50% dealer charges me 130$ and they do they bull**** 72 point inspection and tire rotation and what not . I will prob get it change right after winter anyways

See OM page 578 for use-based OCI estimates for the 6.7 diesel.

The algorithm also takes in consideration; time/date lapsed. So maybe your truck sat for awhile before your actual sales transaction?

Just another .02 thought.
