HELP!!!

Hello everyone, I need your help. I have a 2000 f-250 super duty, V8, 5.4L. Ok. So, I was driving and all of a sudden there was a loud bang under the hood, which started a very loud ticking sound ( like when you blow a spark plug). I still had power for probably another half a mile then the truck started shaking and so I pulled over and when I was almost off the road, the truck shut off. I tried starting it and it will turn over but not start. Any thoughts??? Please!!!

What did you see when you popped the hood and looked under the truck?

Your post gives almost nothing for anyone to make a semi-decent guess, and who would want people to guess at what their problem is? Usually a guess sends you down the parts cannon road. I will refrain from giving my two cents on the thread title of "HELP!!!".

Are your plugs all in place?

I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Yes, all of the spark plugs are good. I just had them all replaced last year. It made the exact same sound as when the spark plugs blew before, but this time there was the shaking and shutting off.

I'm unclear from your response if "all the spark plugs are good" is a fact or an assumption based on the fact they were replaced a year ago. When working as a tech, I also went with the simplest possibilities first. You note you had somethings similar in the past. If you have not already done so, I would start there.

My two cents,

Steve

Welcome to the forum:
Might do a basic compression check. May have broken a crankshaft.

Compression check is fine, but a broken crankshaft?

Sounds like you blew another spark plug.

Cam chain broke or gear sheared off. Look in oil cap to see cam spinning.

I'm sorry. Yes, all the spark plugs are good. I will check the compression and the cam shaft. I will let you know what I find out. Thank you!
