i thought i saw a post about hooking up the puddle lights on a set of new style SD mirrors but cant find the link again and dealer 08 mirrors dont have them
Lights in the underside of the outside mirror housings that light up the ground in front of the doors so you don't step in a "puddle". My wife's '99 Exploder has them - they light up when you hit the unlock button on the remote.
But I don't know if they are on later SD mirrors. My 05 does not have this, and I have the heated tow mirrors with the LED turn signals.
I put LED lights on the bottom of my door so when the door opens they come on. They work pretty good. I saw someone who put some back up type lights underneath their truck. They cam on when the car alarm was activated to open the door. They lit up the ground nicely. There is a picture of my lights in my gallery in the exterior parts pictures.
Well damm it I want em and i'm gonna put em in myself. Just have to figure where to get the 12 volts from when I open the door or hit the door locks or the fob. Already have a jaw drop set of bed lights that fire up by tapping into the cargo light. Now when the doors open or dash switch or fob is hit, the bed is flooded with light.
I'm not sure if you're just looking at puddle lights but I ended up purchasing some LED strip lights off eBay with the 3M adhesive back. I still added some clear silicone in spots just to make sure. I went up through the little plastic pockets that the door sills snap in place at. It sure lights the ground when any of the doors are opened. I stole this idea from someone else on this board but I'll be darn
if I can find that link now.
i was the OP on this thread, and did eventually get a nice set of "puddle" lights on my SD
i saw some on a 2018 F150, and ordered them and fit them to my truck. there in the bottom side of 08 up mirrors. cut the pattern in the bottom of the mirror and snapped the in. i thin i used one of the wires already going through the mirror to connect them to the dome lights.
