1994 front suspension

Hello everyone,
First post on this forum, I just got a new to me 1994 F-350 4x4 crew cab that I plan to do a light restoration on. It will be my third CC from the 90's that I have owned. I should of kept the first 94 that I had as it was perfect but the lure in 2000 of a new diesel 4x4 powerstroke caused me to sell my 7.4 gasser.
Anyway, the current one has a number of smallish issues to deal with, first being getting the ride back to where my previous trucks were. Other that all 4 shocks being toast and a front airbag (YES FRONT) the truck has no standard front shackles but has a shackle that has a bar attached that hinges near the axle and has front leaf springs that have no front "eyes" but are bolted to the bar. it has very squatty airbags replacing the bump stops between axle and frame.
I have never seen this type of setup before but it looks like it may has been designed to add a sorter ride or articulation?? Anybody have any ideas?
The truck isn't my daily driver, but hopefully a fun project and occasional cruiser.

Thanks for all your help

I’m guessing the airbags are there because the springs were sagging. Does it look like there was a plow mount? The arm and spring are both going to the shackle?

I dont believe it was sagging springs, the truck has a installed ready lift compressor panel and the owner before the guy I got if from spent a fair chunk of change on the truck. I think it was set up for a slide in camper and suspect the front bags were to help the nose, my previous F350 was a bit soft when we loaded a 11.5' Lance camper on, loaded the kids and hooked up the comp ski boat. One of the front airbags leaks and I will pull it and see if I can get a P/N off it to get a replacement.
The way it appears to work is the front of the spring is flat and is bolted to the "arm" about 8" back from the front shackle, the arm then is attached to the spring pack right in front of the axle.

Interesting setup for sure. But I think the fact that the leaves have a bolt attaching them rigidly to the bar is the wacky thing. Since a leaf wants to travel in a bit of an arc (even as flat as that pack is) when moving through it's travel, this bolting to the bar plus the bar's bracket at the other end being captured under the main u-bolts, would seem to form a rigid arm and not allow for a compliant ride at all. I can almost see unbolting it from the front to let the leaves float. But I'd have to study it more.

What's it got to the rear of the axle?
