I have a 77 F150 2wd with a 460 (blown) that i am in the process of replacing with a 93 460 and E40D with t-case. What year(s) front end will fit in this truck to finish the 4x4 conversion?
Thank you in advance
Get a whole rolling 4x4 chassis otherwise do a quick search on here. This swap isn't for the faint of heart as it's very involved.
X2. It's a conversion that's been done many times, BUT, advanced fab and welding skills are involved. The frames are different between the 2 and 4WD versions. The first picture is a 2WD frame, the second, 4WD.
I'm not trying to discourage you by any means, just want you to realize what you're getting into.
It's much easier to do a chassis swap.
Thank you mike0 for the pictures. I did try to search for this but could not find it. I must be doing something wrong in the advanced search section because i get every thread with the word 4x4 or conversion in it
I was thinking more of the TTB rather than solid axle swap
If you want to swap a TTB you will be 100% on your own. Now your talking about using a newer chassis as a donor and grafting it. That's a lot of work for a terrible axle.
I can fab you up one of these. they are the exact width for dana 44 front axles (at least off of an F250). you would figure out how to attach to frame. I have been wanting to try this out for a 4x4 conversion

That's interesting. Front leaf spring perches right? Got anymore pictures?
