It appears Android Auto is broken for lots of people. Multiple issue and complaints across multiple brands of cars and phone brands. He is another article.
I am having the issue with my new F250 King ranch and my iphone 50% of the time not connecting when I get in the truck and start it. Seems like it is harder and harder to get the iphone to connect via Carplay. Terribly frustrating that this is not addressed. Where can i find a place to update the Sync3 system? Is it carplay or sync3 issue?

Since multiple people with multiple types of phones, across multiple car brands are having similar issues it seems to be a google issue. Problems are with CarPlay and Android Auto both. Have been multiple updates lately. Last one fixed most my issues. OK google still doesn't work but everything else seems to.
I have found that after I start my 2020, if wait until the center screen says "phone connect" Then I plug in the cable, it will work. However I must wait until car play loads before shifting in reverse. If I don't wait it works less than 50% of the time.

those of use with newer Samsung phones also do the above and unplug and plug in a second time so dev x doesn't get involved.
Hmmmm, must be random because when I updated my Xs Max on the day when the newest version of iOS was released which was a few weeks ago, I haven’t had any CarPlay issues. Everything is working well and just like it was before the update.
Is your phone using a USB-C connector? My phone has had something happen where the data usually only works with the cable in one orientation. If I turn it over, it won't connect to things like my computer or android auto in the truck or the car. I sent it back and went without the phone for 5 weeks (never buying a sony phone again) and after a motherboard swap, it was fixed... for about a week. Same problem now. Just for kicks next time you see these issues (which I saw at times) flip the cable over (phone side) and see if it goes away.
A few days ago I put a 2020 hub with USB A and usb C in my 2017 and it works great with USB C. Worked fine with the cable both ways the first time, but now it only works one way again. Probably the phone broke the hub.
