Did you start a thread about your failed Hydra experience? There are very few instances of people having problems with the Hydra. I cannot remember even one off the top of my head that wasn't user/installer error of some sort.
Not sure about the Titan Unlock. Where did you read it up?

I had a failed experience with Jelibuilt so it is $80 I pissed away with no resolution other than "Change everything that could affect it with no diagnostics". I was supposed to get a call back at the prescribed time but no call back and I decided it wasn't worth pursuing it for that small a sum of money. Chalk it up and a loss and find a better guy. No, the Hydra unit worked fine. It was the tuner that I couldn't get to do investigating and gave up on him. I will try to talk to other tuners in my spare time. Will be trying Brian's Truck Shop next.

Maybe I'll try a sample tune with CNC Fabrications. I do have Stage 2 AC injectors.

Im still working on my coffee, so let me see if I’m following correctly.

You bought a Hydra and jellibuilt sold you tunes that didn’t work good and he was not able or willing to make revisions?

You have dp toons that you do like or just like better than the jelli tunes?

You have AC codes with big nozzles? Like 160/80 or 160/100? (Stage 2 AC?)

The PHP extended library is $150 and has tunes for upgraded injectors. I’ve used these tunes quite a bit because I find customer service from tuners mostly sucks. The couple who are responsive to customers sell crappy tunes and tend to give ‘questionable’ advice.

@Tugly had an issue with putting too much boost to the MAP sensor, I' not talking about defueling or setting SES...I'm talking about phyiscal damage to the sensor.

And for the amount of money "we" spend on these dinosaurs...A RiffRaff OCR...pocket change. Not even the cost of a fill.

Some people have problems nobody else ever had before...

My MAP sensor has regularly seen +30psi for like 300k miles now. I’ve put larger injectors and turbos in many trucks and haven’t used a boost fooler for years now (as soon as tuners figured out how to fix overboost code).

For awhile, a couple of the tuners used 6.0 psd map sensors - but I don’t think anyone bothers with that now.

To be fair...I bought the OCR back when I had DP's tuning. It would set a SES. Does Cody's tune? No idea.

Correct. 1 tune to try. Wanted to try and see if anyone can do better than DP-Tuner that did data logs. Both of them were unsatisfactory at the get go. DP-Tuner lent me the Infinity unit for data logging and we got it working right. Found a used Hydra and decided to see if anyone can do better. There is always a hesitation/shuddering when you hammer it between 1000-2000 and it was VERY twitchy on the throttle at low end. You can drive through a 10 mile and area and any slight twitch like the bumpiness of the road will cause the RPM to go up and down and up and down, etc. DP-Tuner took it all out but I was wondering if anyone can do better. So far, not yet. Jelibuilt suggested it might be the IRP (I have 2) or maybe the ICP or the HPOP (I have 2) that is causing the trouble. Without testing, I would be replacing every part of the vehicle and maybe not even find out the issue. Other than that, it runs good (subjective and not worth as much). I decided that "diagnosis by total replacement" wasn't the route I was going to go down.

I have DP-Tuner tunes but wanted to play with others so I bought a Hydra platform to try others.

I believe 160/80 AC injectors.

How do you get to the extended library?

How much is "too much"? Or a better question is "How much pressure can the sensor take?". 40 psi is 40 psi on any system so if he breaks at 50, we know that is the limit of the sensor, or so my thinking goes.

My Excursion had 35psi boost gauge and I joked the needle was going to get damaged from banging the pin so hard. That was just Stage 1 injectors. I’ve installed several sets of 238/80 to 250/200’s capable of higher boost pressures.

People with compound turbos can make over 100psi. Do they completely ignore MAP sensor?

If I understand correctly, tuning does not rely heavily on MAP. It’s a little counter-intuitive, but fueling uses other parameters more than MAP. This is why the truck still runs fine with MAP sensor unplugged.

@aklim , As I stated in my earlier post, CNC Fabrication is a "dealer" (not tuner) for the PHP extended library of tunes which on the CNC Fabrication site it is called "Titan Unlock" as seen in the link below.

Titan Unlock

As you can see from the list below, all of the standard PHP tunes are available in the Extended library, but they are built for modified injectors like 160/80 or 205/100.

In addition, I am having a difficult time trying to figure out what you are trying to do, so I will not assume and offer a suggestion.

Many people are happy with DP, but they will not get one penny of my money for personal reasons that I experienced myself. It is a shame too because they are just down the road about 50 miles from my home.

You stated...

I cannot tell if you are upset about your experience or if you just don't care and moved on... Either way there is nothing I can do to help how you feel or correct the experience you had. Again, some people are happy with Jelibuilt, others are not. That is the way tunes go based on what I have read and seen myself on my truck. 1023 Tunes were great on my MST truck running medium tow when hauling heavy. Although, upgrade to the SXE turbo and now the same tune makes the truck run like it is on half power and under the turbo. I switched to PHP 65 HP Performance because I have a ZF6 and the transmission tuning is a non-issue for me, so I can try any tune I like without fear of the transmission shifting oddly. The PHP 65 HP Performance tune makes my truck run very well.

I was happy to hear SkySkiJason say the same thing when I was up at his place recently. I only had my truck to go off of and compare it to itself on how it runs, but he had the same thoughts and he has worked on and built more 7.3L's than I will probably even see in my life.

You should get what you pay for and be happy with it, but if the tuner is not responding, I don't blame you for moving on. Simple things like throttle responsiveness can be changed though. When 1023 approached me a couple of years ago and offered for me to try some tunes out free of charge, I took the opportunity. I ran 3 of the tunes and promptly removed them because the throttle response was way too quick. I told Dusty and he pulled back some of the responsiveness and made it more like a stock throttle feeling. I was happy with those for quite a while until they were underwhelming with the SXE turbo.

I hope you don't feel like you have to justify your tuning from DP to us because you don't. It is your money, your time, your truck and your driving experience. Stick with what makes you happy and don't let anything we say sway your feeling of happiness regarding the truck.

I am sure there is a failure threshold designed into the MAP sensor, but I don't recall what it is or if that is a fact. I can tell you that how much is too much can easily be set by you. For me, 25 PSI was too much because that is what Ford set as a defuel mark. In addition, 40 PSI is too much for me for the valves to be pushed to since I have OEM valves. I can peak boost to 35+ with my OEM 255,000 mile injectors and the 364.5 SXE, but don't because there is no use for that kind of boost other than fooling around. I drive my truck like I have nowhere to be but I need it to be reliable and dependable enough to get me to that destination of nowhere.

Jason knows his ****... Backward and forward... I have had a lot of work done by him on my truck that I was not capable of myself and I respect him as a friend, a mechanic and a FTE member. I don't doubt what he says, but that does not mean I don't have a different opinion either. Luckily we live in America and we are capable of making our own choices that will change the outcome of the experience at hand.

That's the one I have. It must work great because I can get ~ 34psi of boost and never get codes.
