So I just picked up a 08 F-250 cc/sb/4x4. Has the v10 gas. It has a 2 inch lift and leveling kit. Ride seems a little harsh on some of the rougher roads. Was wondering what would be a good shock for the truck? Looking for a smooth riding shock. Here's a couple pictures of the ones on now.
I too run the Bilstein 5100's on my '15. I don't think they ride harsh though. It's no Cadillac, but it still rides great! I found a brand new set for $285 shipped on Ebay.
I installed Bilstein 4600 series on my F350 dually and am very happy with the ride quality (I commute 105 miles round trip, 80% highway). If I take into account the Michelin Defender LTX tires my drive is smooth and quiet.
I also just installed Bilstien 5100 on my '16 F350 and I highly recommend them. I think they are the best value(not cheapest) shocks for our trucks in most applications. The oem shocks were shot at 67k miles, 2 of them wouldn't even extend back out on their own.
On my 05, F350, I installed the Bilstein 4600 series. The original Rancheros were toast around the 75K miles time frame. I'm not sure if Ford bought them tweaked for the their trucks or not. I do not have any lift on the truck. It is plenty high enough now. I am on 18" wheels. I am very pleased with the Blistens. I also changed the steering stabilizer to the Bilstein for my truck. The original was shot. I am also pleased with the steering stabilizer.
Went back and forth between the Bilstein and KYB Monomax. Ended going with the KYB. Mainly use the truck for towing our camper and the ride was the reason. Now I just have to install them to see how they actually ride. I did go with the Bilstein steering dampener.
Anything you put on there will be much better than what you have. The spring and shock are stock. The Readylift leveling kit is just that spacer made to work with the stock setup.

I know there's a lift block in the rear. So would I need longer shocks for a 2 in lift or stock length? Thanks
