Vent window

Has anyone tried tightening their vent window without taking everything apart ? Is it possible ? Put all new rubber on both sides last year and didn’t tighten up the drivers side enough. 🤬 🙄

Not that I know of, especially since you put all new rubber gaskets on it. Is the window frame just seem loose/not seated tight against the gasket when closed? Just have to ask correct gasket right? Or is the flip down lock loose at the division contact area? That flip lock is held on by a pin. PITA to drive out, but doable to replace the flip lock.

Is the plastic tip of the flip lock worn? The tip is a removable/replaceable item, but hard to get out and then get a replacement back in. I have never seen just the tip (lol) for sale. If it is worn down it could be built back up with JB Weld then dremel reshapped.

Or you can add some thick rubber to the inside of the division bar where the chrome piece is and that might tighten it up?

All is good just loose enough so that it won’t stay open when I get up to speed, annoying. I was wondering if I could take the panel off and reach up in there somehow and tighten the nut.

Yeah that’s it. Wondering if there’s a way to get to it and not having to take the whole assembly out. Speaker hole maybe ? Just wondering if anyone reading this has tried. Thanks for the response.

Take the door panel off and reach up in there, easy enough to get to. Careful though you DO NOT want to break that threaded stud for sure. I would apply a bit of WD first.

I happen to have a truck in the shop without door panels on it. Let me do double check that you can reach that nut.

Easy peasy to reach. Plenty of room for some WD (with the red tip) and than a 1/4 " ratchet.
