I have a F-350 2014 platinum short bed I just bought and it a used truck which I got from one of those smaller dealerships but the engine light turned on I took to autozone and they said it the error code is p228f and it says fuel regulator pressure “ low pressure” so I though ok weird so I put some seafoam and while I was driving for a day the engine light finally turned off then after bout a week it turned back on the engine light again I tried to do the same thing again didn’t help so I drove it for a few days then it started to stall on me so I drained the fuel filter housing and I think air came out And now the trucks running fine doesn’t stall anymore at low rpms any more but engine light still on I’m think it might be the fuel filters that are bad
Sounds more like there the fuel filters had been changed and they weren't completely sealed, so it was sucking air. That will throw the code that you have, as well as present air in the fuel/water separator bowl.
Well the only reason I gonna replace is because the starter went out the first week I got the truck and they told me the only thing they did to the truck was a detail clean up so u think it’s possible that the o ring for the fuel filter is bad and letting air in or do u think it’s something else I already tighten the the housing to make sure it wasn’t loose but still engine light on or could it be my fuel regulator has gone bad ?

The frame mounted filter housing will bottom out on a built in stop when it's fully tightened. Sounds like that is your problem. I believe it is a 32mm socket for the bowl, but be gentle as the bowl tends to be fragile. Some people go as far as to use an oil filter strap wrench on the bowl at the same time to help remove and reseat it. I would go ahead and replace the fuel filters since it is a used truck. That particular filter will come with a new o-ring. I would suggest using some clean engine oil to lubricate the o-ring before installing. Make sure that the mating surface in the bowl is completely clean before installing as well.

So idk what happen but finally the engine light turned of I took it to O’Reilly and I let them scan the truck for the engine light and then 15 minutes later driving it turned of this isn’t the first time it’s happen last time it happen the engine light only stayed on for a day and turned off the next day this one took 2 weeks idk u think sensor or something is wrong with the trucks electronic system to and also my radio the CD player isn’t working
May have also had some air trapped in the system. You did say that your frame mounted fuel filter wasn't tightened down all the way. Hope that clears up your issue.
When you change your filters, on the DFCM (diesel fuel conditioning module; primary pump/fuel filter/water separator) on the driver side frame, put fresh oil on the threads and new O-ring. I do that as I read it here on the forum from a Ford factory tech. It makes the filter go on like a hot knife through butter. Like jsukey said, be careful of the stop on the housing. Before you start the truck, you have to prime the pump first. I forgot what the manual says but I do 12 cycles. You turn KOEOff and wait 30 seconds. Do that 12 times or check out the manual. I do it because I'm **** and I'm Overkill. Let us know how you make out.
