I know I was not the creator of this thread, but I thought I would provide an update to our roadside assistance shopping.

Our current Good Sam policy is set to expire on 10/27/2020. We are no longer under the new member promotional discount and the renewal notice we were receiving was quoting us at $139 per year down from $159. I called (5:04 to answer after the hold music started) and spoke to a sales representative at Good Sam and they lowered the price down to $111 if we signed up for 5 years, which was our preference anyway. Of course, they said that offer was only good for that day, but I am sure they would have given it to us if I asked again and it was just a sales pitch.

I then called Coach-Net to talk about their towed trailer program. I called (0:32 to answer after the hold music started) and spoke to a sales representative and after many questions and about 20 minutes on the phone, they quoted me at $139 per year for a 5 year contract. The contract can be cancelled by us at anytime for a refund of the remaining balance. We don't intend to cancel, but that is nice to know that is an option if we change our mind. We decided to go with Coach-Net for a couple of reasons.

- No call out limit with Coach-Net where Good Sam has a maximum of 4. This is for any call out from jump start, to trailer tow away.
- The person on the other end of the call at Coach-Net was much more friendly and seemed to address our questions better. I realize this is in direct relation to the skill of the sales rep, but I received the Coach-Net sales rep by selecting that I needed roadside assistance and the sales rep is the roadside assistance rep.
- Good Sam said their offer was only good for that day, where Coach-Net said we could take all the time we needed and the offer was good for as long as we needed it to be. This is a small thing, but sometimes it is the small things that make a big difference.
- Just like Good Sam, Coach-Net covers all of our vehicles including rentals or vehicles borrowed. Even if we are only passengers in the vehicle, the vehicle is covered.
- I only had to use Good Sam once and that was at 9:00 AM to have a car towed 20 miles. It was not a trouble free process, but it was not unbearable either. We figured we would give Coach-Net a shot and hopefully never need their help.
- Good Sam has limitations on where they will go to help you out, which is big for us as boondockers/dry campers. Coach-Net told us that as long as we can get our 5th wheel someplace (even up a Forest Service road), the service truck can get to us. This is for all of CONUS and Canada.

I hope we never need their services, but our gut feeling was telling us to go with Coach-Net and we are big on gut feelings and karma. So, that is where we are at right now. Our Good Sam expires on 10/27/2020 and our Coach-Net starts on 10/26/2020.

Thanks for reading my ramblings...
