Broken coil connector hack

So this only applies if you have a connector with a "mostly broken" tab that is still in place but has lost its "spring"....maybe this is a "TO BLAVE" tab?

Anyway....this would also apply to most coils but since I did it on an '05 Escape I'll drop it here. I also wouldn't do this on Cyls 1 thru 3 under the plenum (3.0)

I took some tabs that had completely snapped from other cylinders and wedged them under TO BLAVE tabs to keep them closed:

Completely failed tab...

Cut to desired length. I kept the fatigued plastic ears as they provide a nice fingernail pull for later removal as shown below:

I used a bit of black silicone to keep them from vibrating out and wedged in place to keep mostly fatigued tabs closed

Not a bad idea but I’m interested to know how it works out in the long term.

I went with good old fashioned zip ties until I get replacement connectors (gonna rebuild the FI section of the harness from scratch).
