Am guessing the'50's . Not a stock Ford truck heater . Some type of after market unit . Looks period correct . If it works I would stick with it .Looks to be in excellent shape .
Thanks Denny, Thats great to hear! I was hoping for period correctness. No not a beautifully restored FORD, 1st ride example, but in good condition like you said. Yes it keeps it warm, not overly warm and not hot, but seems to take the chill off. Then again I have little to compare it too being new in this hobby. But suffice it to say that it's not anything like a heat in a modern vehicle where you have to turn off the heat because it gets too hot. No this unit you will want to turn it off for the noise of it. Although it doesn't have a lighted switch on it that seems to control the fan speed by dialing it down. Still getting used to it.
I guess you've never seen one like this before then?
What I do appreciate about it, is the fact that it's mounted in the center between the driver and passenger which seems to me at least, to be an ideal placement. Number one because it doesn't take up the leg room of the passenger and it puts the heat closer to both people if two happen to be in the truck. The other thing that is nice is the small size of it. Similar I suppose to the basic FORD black heater that was an option on the 52 F-1 trucks? I am going to install a shut-off valve on the head that is missing from the truck. As I think Im getting a little heat out of it in the summer which isn't good. Hopefully that will help in that situation?
