Tonight I find myself in need of a windshield for my 65 F100. What is the availability look like? Cost? I have insurance but a $200 deductable.
I happened to go by Rubber the Right Way and pick up the seal on Friday so I've got that going for me.
I also got the fuel filler gromit and a pair of custom cab door badges. All for about a hundred box

I got this one from a local body shop it has the tinted band across the top. It was $115 plus I paid $15 more for insurance that covered breaking it while installing it. I used Dennis Carpenter's rubber seal and 3M, 08509 non hardening sealant. A friend of mine came over and we had it installed in 30 minutes after I got it prepped. Also we used Castrol Red Rubber grease on the nylon cord we placed in the channel to pull the seal over the pinch weld.
The hardest part is getting that stainless trim to stay put.
I had difficulty finding a tinted, but not banded, windshield. I rode in a friend's truck with the banded version and found it very distracting, so I knew what to avoid. Make sure you know what you're getting, if it matters to you.
I could not find one that was not Chinese.

The NE local portland glass got me one in a day for less than $120 inc tax. Mine has the green strip and if I wanted a clear one it would've taken a few days longer. The only thing missing was the option to get the tinted green with the strip, I thought that would look nice on my chrome yellow truck but I could only find those mail order and they were prohibitively expensive. My truck was not ready for it and I've done a few so I'm not too worried about breaking it but as azscawpion points out there is a big benefit to having them put it in, they would've done mine for that same price with the same warranty.
After breaking the original windshield I decided to have the auto glass shop order and install the windshield, I brought the DC gasket and windshield trim and they used a non-hardening sealant. This was several years ago and no leaks. Although fellow commuters thought it strange I thought it was kinda cool driving to the shop wearing googles. Cost $150 for the windshield and $80 for the install.

I'm in San Diego. I was already planning on having my Glass guys do the job, it has been leaking since I bought the truck but has only rained a couple of times, so I was putting it off. I had Friday off and was in the area where Rubber the Right Way is so I swung by and got the seal, my glass guys said they were the best fitting. I just wasn't planning on buying the glass unless they broke it of course. It is a custom cab, the trim will get polished and whatever rust might be there will get taken care of at that time. I just put my BMW back together so I could park the truck for a week or so and take care of the brake upgrade, dual master but that's it, and find out what happened with my king pins..
Where? Used to know a couple places in Phoenix area but long time ago. Don't get down that way much anymore. Will need 1 for wife's Bug and my Mark III soon.
Dang I had my '65s windshield replaced last summer, and had the glass guys replace the seal on the rear window and it was around $400...you guys getting some good deals lol
Good news, no rust under windshield seal! Got tinted glass ordered, got new seal, need to clean up my trim and the channel and hope to be driving again by the weekend!
