Take some rope, run it over a bar of soap *to make it slick*.
Put the rubber around the glass, and then put the rope into the groove for the cab.
Lay the whole deal up against the cab, and have a friend push on the rubber as from inside you slowly pull the rope out.
It should settle the groove right onto the lip of the cab..
but on the truck i think u put the seal in on the cab...then set the windshield on the seal and pull the rope from the outside bringing the lip up over the windshield.... then u put your trim piece in the grove to lock it in place
You need to put the seal on the windsheild, put your rope ( a heave cord works better) with the ends in the center of the windsheid, center the whole setup in the truck, and pull the cord slowly and carefully form the inside of the cab and it should be installed.
This is how I make my living....sometimes it helps to smear handcleaner on the pinchweld and the rubber. You have to install the windshield with the rubber on the glass. If there is chrome trim (pre 78) it must be installed in the rubber and then the whole thing installed in the truck. 78 up..these have a narrow strip that goes in after the w/s is installed. I have installed these by installing the rubber on the truck and then put the w/s in the rubber. Try installing the top first. It really helps to have a helper for this technique. Take a plastic stick or 'glaziers bone' and work the gasket over the edge of the glass. After the glass is in the gasket, get a lockstrip tool at your parts store and install the lockstrip. Use soappy water or glass cleaner for a lubricant. Never pry on the edge of the glass with a metal tool suchas a screw driver. It will chip and break the glass. The 78 up is easier than the 67-77 which have the crome trim. Those are no fun at all....
was just thinking when i took the glass out of a 79 it was easier for me to get it out by removing the strip n peeling back the smaller part of the rubber, it wouldnt come out by prying it back from the inside the rubber was too thick n hard, but just throwin what i observed out there. i never installed it otherwise. so bigbadbaj4x4 listen to the experts.
