1989 F150 Lariat 4x4 quad shocks
I'm looking to do a rebuild on my front end. I've been looking around on forums but haven't found anyone else asking the questions I need answered. I'm planning to replace the stock coil springs with 2'" lift springs to level the truck out as well as replace most of the front end suspension, brakes, and basically replace most of the other stuff that I have to tear apart anyway. So I'm looking for some recommendations and suggestions on a few specific things. I want to do bilstien 5100's has anyone found 2" lift shocks for the quad front end setup and where can i find them? If not what are some of you using for that setup? Am I going to need to put drop brackets on the radius arms? Also as far as shocks go is there really a difference between the primary and auxiliary shocks or can I just get two identical front shocks? I'm the kind of guy that likes to do most things as "correctly" as possible. Any other tips anyone has for this job would be really appreciated because I'm sure everyone knows the older these things get the harder it is to find good tips and info on these jobs, Thanks!
If you use an adjustable upper ball joint bushing, you should be able to align and won't need drop brackets. On a duel shock set up,running 2 "regular" shocks will result in a over dampened stiff ride. They need to be paired so the dampening is shared between each. They would each need roughly half the dampening of a reg shock. The idea is with 2 they aren't worked as hard and won't get hot and fade.
