I have a 2001 F250 XLT Super Cab Short Box. I've been looking for an overhead console for the truck, which it never has had. Question I have for those that might be in the know, will the wiring harness already be there to just plug and play when I find a console for it? I did the same thing to a GMC Safari years ago, all I had to do was plug in and attach the console to the ceiling and get aN outdoor temperature sensor to plug into the wiring harness in the Radiator area. All the wiring was ready to accept everything I needed on the GMC.

i would doubt it alot! Lariat or high might have the wiring, i have been wrong before!
There is no rhyme or reason to what wiring Ford put in these trucks. GENERALLY, there is no ‘extra’ wires that allow things like RKE and overhead console. But, I have seen exceptions.
The harness that that goes to overhead console plugs in on passenger side kick panel and goes up that a-pillar and across the top of windshield to the console. I have a 2000 here with overhead console, I’ll try to get a pic of the pigtail in kick panel later.
I added a console to my E99. Took the overhead out of an 2001. Wires were not there but the mounting holes were. I just traced out where to cut the headliner and installed. Went smooth. Was like 20 mins.
Thanks SkyJason, I wouldn't want you to go to too much trouble, but would certainly be interested to see where the wiring harness and plug for the console are.
Thanks Listor. Don't be to hard on yourself about having been wrong before . I think I was wrong once too, not to sure about that though, I don't seem to remember it.
I think it’s one of these (2). My best recollection is the grey one... It will go from here up to the console. There is an unused grey connector similar to this on this truck with overhead console and lie-o-meter.
On edit: the wire bundle goes up passenger side a-pillar.
Just opened up the passenger side kick panel yesterday afternoon. There are several plugs there, but only one black plug that is not in use. No wires running up the a-pillar. I guess if/when I get my hands on a console, I'll just have to make sure I get the wiring harness that goes to the kick panel as well.

Did the 2001 console fit with the E99 sun visors? i know they are different and longer. i want to add one to my E99 as well and dont like the E99 overhead consoles.
