No. The best way is to evacuate the cylinders with Mighty Vac or similar. Then spin engine over at least 2 revolutions by hand - with VC’s in place to mitigate the mess.
You ‘shouldnt’ break anything using the starter - but you definitely won’t harm anything (hydro lock) by hand.
Too late to vacuum already reinstalled injectors
turned crank but hydrolocked
thanks for tip of VC to stop mess
this truck has been anightmare about hard to start for about a year i hope now it starts as easy as my other 7.3 does

Its better to evacuate through injector hole, but you can also use the GP hole.
I use mighty Vac or similar before installing injectors, then turn over by hand before and after installing GP’s.
Off from work will pull glow plugs turn over to clear then reinstall and turn over
i got in ahurry to reinstall injectors it was getting dark last night knew better but did not vacuum before installing
Cleared oil from cylinders by pulling Glow Plugs Hand turn engine reinstall glow Plugs found 2 more bad went to start turn key WTS light comes on fuel pump runs try to start, no start, turn off key turn on WTS light on fuel pump runs try to start -no start , turn of key turn key on NO WTS light no fuel pump running engine will turn over no start, no blown fuses now have intermittent electrical problem .
finally had a chance to work on it Pulled Key tumbler and reinserted fixed problem with dash lights
after resealing injectors, found 3 bad glow plug tested ok installed, pull out to blow oil out of cylinders prior to start tested and found 3 bad, installed new motorcraft, Started truck let engine run after several minutes of running started to settle down and smooth out getting air out of oil and fuel lines, let it run to normal operating temp re-torque injectors reinstall vc and up pipes.
Test drive not so good ran great 1st mile then stumbling at low rpm then getting worse. pulled codes while driving got P1211 and P1316
Got home ran KOEO test got codes P0261 on # 1 injector and P1275 0n # 5 injector, Now what is wrong ? Do I need 2 new injectors or can I Repair these or do I have wiring problems

Multiple issues likely.
P1211 could be bad ICP sensor, weak IPR, tired HPOP or bad injector(s). Not external injector o-rings because they’re new, right?
P1316 is an IDM death code, but it could be from P1275. You can check armature clearance on #5 and/or swap it with another cylinder and see if problem follows.
I’m not sure about P0261? Could be VC/UVCH or maybe bad solenoid??
Let it cool down reset all codes started up and got P1284 code bad sensor ? Unplugged sensor truck ran like it should, installed new sensor truck now runs fine no codes could have been bad sensor causing other codes and rough running.
thanks for help getting this thing running right
