I have replaced injector o-ring, cups, valve cover gaskets, fuel filter , water pump. on a 1999 F250 super duty, truck started after replacing cups and o-rings had 1 bad cup, 1 bad injector, 1 bad glow plug ran rough for about 5- 10 minutes then cleared up notice leak at water pump, replaced that. Truck started better than ever ran smooth. drove truck about 30 miles, started running rough found bad connector valve cover gasket drivers side broken clip replaced gasket, also oil in fuel filter, replaced fuel filter, re torqued all injectors found some loose. Started right up ran smooth with valve covers off to check oil flow from injectors, It did sound a little clicky at times with a clack occasionally sounded like injector firing hard ran smooth though. Next day still have valve covers off I now have a no start on the truck , wanting to double check before putting it all together , sounds like it wants to start but not enough fuel no smoke , checked fuel bowl full fuel pump runs and refills bowl no start, Tried some starting fluid did start but running rough lope at idle not staying running, Was running perfect yesterday easy start and smooth.
What have i done to cause problems now?
I have ordered one but do not have it at this time before work had been done had SES light on that is now off, changed IPC sensor oil in connector as well no start , this is becoming a nightmare to figure out runs perfect than no start
It’s much easier to diagnose with scan tool. We can do KOEO, buzz test, etc that can shake out problems. Then look at ICP while cranking and some other PID’s that can help narrow the search.
Did you do the $0.52 mod to the VC/UVCH’s? I think you mentioned one came unplugged??
Please don’t use starting fluid. The next time can break a piston......
The new gasket came with wires molded into gasket no inside connector passenger side had been changed sometime in past to same type
I know a scanner of some type would be nice can not find anything local that will talk to this truck everything i tried so far only connected to GEM not any help, I don't have any android phones only apple have ordered a WIFI connector to run forscan .
Just confused why starts one day wont start the next
How much fuel is in it? If it's below 1/4 it's possible that the pickup foot in the tank is broken and it's sucking air. If it has sucked air it can take several minutes of the fuel pump running to clear it after you add fuel. Also, starting fluid + glow plugs can grenade the motor up so be very careful.
Had to change o-ring again on injectors oil in fuel filter I must not not of tightened injectors enough first time to seat then properly
all eight had some damage to 3 rd ring.
Now i cycled wait to start several times to refill fuel filter and prime system and now wait to start light will not come on?
With no WTS light, do you hear the fuel pump cycle?
Disconnect the fuelbowl heater and check the fuses..all of them. Cant remember which one controls the WTS,fuelpump and fuel heater..all on same circuit
Maybe a tester with some alligator clips, or a buddy to help, since you only have 20 seconds to check for voltage. It may be unlikely that the fuel pump quit altogether, but it must be checked.
