4R100 Question
Good Morning, I have a 99 F250 S.D. 6.8 V10 4X4 with a 4R100 no PTO in it. The trans has gone bad on it so I am in search of a good used transmission. My question is am I limited to the year to find a replacement for it or will other years interchange with it ?? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

That depends on when your truck was built. There was a change in January 1999 from what was called early '99 to the late '99. The early '99 had a different torque converter lock system and the two are not compatible. A later transmission can be modified to work with the earlier truck, but it takes a partial disassembly of the trans to make the change.
If it was produced in January '99 or later you can use a 4R100 from a 4x4 V10 up through the 2004 model year.
